Gaming on Linux

If, like me, you are a big computer game fan, making the move to Linux can leave you feeling a little left out. No more BioShock, Crysis, Spore, etc. Through the efforts of people like TransGaming, Codeweavers and the wine project, a fair number of windows games can be played on Linux. Except for a very few game studios like ID and Bioware in their Neverwinter Nights days, no-one seems to be writing for Linux itself.

There are some good FPS, some reasonable RTS games which can run natively in Linux but they are few and far between, or don't feel quite so polished.

I recently purchased a copy of Sacred Gold from Linux Games Publishing, who take on the monumental task of adapting windows games to run in Linux. I loved this game when it was first released a few years ago, and it was a real joy to play again. I'm currently working my way through the first campaign as a dwarf. Last time I played through was as a Battlemage, but the dwarf is just so much fun :)

If you like your RPGs, don't mind that the graphics are a little dated (3D isometric) and the gameplay is not what you call rocket science, try this one. I'm sure you'll have fun.
